Dude...holy crap I used to live in san angelo texas, OMG my usual speed when outside of the town was more in the range of 75-90 MPH usually.......HOW can you go that slow and not get hit??....

Unless you are talking MULTI lane big highways, where I was in texas there was almost no real enforcement of speeds out in the desert....

As an fyi, at least in all of the lower 48 on Interstates, no you are not allowed to go over the speed limit to pass.

Having said this, the reality is that officers normally do not ticket this behaviour when reasonable.

You should stay in the right lane unless you are passing and always move over for faster traffic. Besides legal issues, it's just common sense.

What always makes me question peoples' thought processes is when I see a light turn red maybe 1/4 mile ahead of me, and so I start coasting, so I may be going 30 in a 40 or 45. The person behind you slides over, gasses it to get in front of you, and then slams on the brakes, and the a few seconds later we both end up waiting at the light at the same time. I can see it being annoying if the person behind you was planning on turning before the light, but this will happen to me even in the middle lane. People need to calm down, everyone is way to anxious to come to a screeching halt at the lights as soon as possible.

Yep, gotta hurry up and wait ya know.

My daughter has her permit (she is 15) and this is the first thing I taught her when I took her driving. They never taught her that in Driver's ed!!!

I told her it not only saves gas, but it also saves alot of wear and tear on the car, like brakes and tires.

Ya, I always wonder how often the people in their yukons rolling on 22's have to replace their brake pads. I have to admit, when I first turned 16 this was exactly my behavior, typical teenage guy crap, but when gas hit $3.50 I chilled out...a lot...
