where did my gass miliage go????

SO i have a 2000 celica gt that was getting around 350-370 miles per fill up. Just last week that dropped down to almost 280-300. i did not change anything on the car it just started eating more gas. there have been days where i have parked the car for work and have come out and the gass guage is a whole two levels less then it was when i went into work. have jacked the car up and ran it and dont see any spots of leaking gass or the smell of any. a guy i know who is like a toyota expert said he might know what it is but then decided to not tell me cuz he is mad or something. So im thinking it is a common thing. Any one got any idea's?????? thanks for the help!

if the level dropped AFTER parking the car, then sombody's stealing your gas.

I agree with andrew, someone is probably stealing your gas or your tank has a leak.NO other way you can loose gas just being parked with the engine off.

Otherwise,if thats not the case. Then try looking at the air filter and you may have a clogged catalytic converter also??Spark plugs are easy to change on it and can help, but doesnt sound like the problem.Cant tell by not looking at it.

does your car have high mileage? check air filter and oil. check spark plugs and maf sensor. i have a 2000 celica with auto transmission and 55,000 miles on the car. i can easily do 420-450 with 1-2 more bars left. (fuel gauge has 20 bars total). when the low fuel light comes on, that's when there's only 1 gallon left. I do about 34-36MPG all the time. This is with 70% highway 30% city in Los Angeles.
