Anyone ever tried the PLX Kiwi? Scangauge?

http://www.plxkiwi.com/

its supposed to help you improve gas mileage by showing you how to drive, and you can even sync your iphone to your vehicle by using the Rev application and manage your rpms.

I hear about scangauge alot, this seems a little more sophisticated and user friendly. anyone ever used them both to get a comparison?

I am buying either this or a scangauge so any opinions would be nice, thanks.

I have a scangauge. The kiwi seems like the poor man's SG. --- 90 dollars versus 150 dollars.

I can tell you that the SG has more sophistication than the Kiwi. Two prime examples is that you can choose to display 4 different gauges/info at one time and you can program more functions into the SG with their "X-gauge" program. More functions meaning HP gauge or oil temp applications..etc, more codes are made as their programmers can figure out the codes for car manufacturers..

The SG can do all the functions of the Kiwi except that ability to connect with the Iphone/Ipod. The SG can not connect with any outside source of multimedia.

Lastly, the SG can display far more functional data than the Kiwi... IE LOD, TPS, GPH...etc.

I'm sure with either product you can learn practices that can give a driver an immediate 10-20 percent improvement in mileage--- speaking from personal experience and observations of others who have such devices. The difference then is that some might what to take that extra few steps to get the fullest potential that they can eek out of their car in terms of mileage and that's where the SGII stands out.

Scangauge is $150-160, not $250.

I have one of these kits in the mail... MPGuino, and will probably be writing a DIY on installing it in a Camry.

This only shows MPG, but it costs just $40!

I use a DashDyno SPD. This one is more for performance minded folks - I have used it to produce a crude dyno graph of my car, yet it doesn't really understand the DFCO concept.

it can do a lot more than either Kiwi or SG, hell I can even connect a handheld GPS to it and visualize my trip on Google earth! At $380 for the full kit it also costs a lot more.

UltraGuage beats these devices in price, reliability, accuracy and variety.

I would recommend this if you do not want to pay $150 for a ScanGuageII.
