USA Seafoam uses

Their bug be gone seems pretty handy too. Having watched this sea foam vid I'm nearly sold on using it in gas and oil. Any feedback on success using SF?

I noticed a large improvement in my 1992 corolla after using seafoam. Acceleration and overall effort to maintain speed was better. I used seafoam in my vacuum line and gas tank. Will probably use some in my engine oil next time before my oil change. Then again, my car is 17 years old with 198k miles on it, it might be different for you.

Most people say not to use it in the oil on a higher mileage car because in doing it's cleaning job it may actually knock out some crap/sludge that is blocking a leak.

A fuel injector cleaner with PEA in it is better for putting in the gas tank. This used to include Techron and BG44K but no longer does. Redline SI-1 still contains this compound, a very effective injector cleaner, and is often recommended.

Interesting that they say to use the sucking in of the Seafoam to actually stall the engine. Never done it that way, but I guess it would allow more of the Seafoam to stay and soak in instead of immediately burning off.

I say a bottle of SI-1 in the tank and half a can of Seafoam into the engine. Then you could just save the other half or do the treatment a second time. It's definitely a good product for cleaning the internals, but not that great of an injector cleaner.

Stalling the engine with it is how it gets time to soak into the "carbon" and soften it. This is just an old time carbon remover, there used to be many brands on the market.

Honestly if you have weaker than the best iridium or newer plugs to completely burn it right after injection and you put a can a seafoam in your tank, it will screw up your 02s just like that on a 96' or newer vehicle. Seafoam is bad in most cases.

The type of spark plugs you use has nothing to do with whether the fuel or additives gets burned. Either a spark flashes or it doesn't. Iridium plugs last much longer than conventional plugs because the electrodes erode more slowly. They can't make a hotter or "more intense" spark, or any of the other B.S. claims that have been made for various "wonder" spark plugs since spark plugs were invented. Neither can split or multielectrode plugs, surface gap plugs, radioactive plugs, or any of the others. They may have other advantages with regard to fouling resistance or relatively long life, but not for promoting combustion. None of them.

If you don't mind more frequent changes and will remember to do it, the cheapest conventional plugs will ignite your fuel as well as the most expensive "high performance" plugs.

Seafoam is awesome, used it on my 93 camry LE, and I had a smoother idle, and better acceleration for some reason.

i started using seafoam back in 2001 advised by one of my patients.

initially, i used it as gas additive only. mesmerized by the "on the can" staement that it can be used in engine oil, i emailed manufacturer. they explained that seafoam is 100% oil based product and is absolutely safe to use in crankcase.

ever since, i use seafoam as pre oil change additive on all of my cars. i run it through crankcase for around 500 miles active driving, then change oil.

out of curiosity, i had it in my Ranger for 2000 miles. in oil, not in truck bed. no harm.

i use seafoam routinely twice a year through gas tank, as maintenance for clean gas lines, injectors, etc.

outside of it climbing up in price from 6 bucks to almost ten now, i never had any issues with it.

same time, i have a lot of respect to STP injector cleaner. it's cheap, is constantly on sale in 3 packs, and works quite well, if used for 3-4 tankfuls in a row.

i had no signs of seafoam improving gas mileage, but i do not let my cars get to the point when they run so poorly that seafoam makes this happen.

I used Seafoam on a Subaru with 198K. It cleaned the injectors etc extremely well. The trick is to run down your gas tank to almost empty. Add can of Seafoam and fill with a gallon or 2 of gas. The more concentrated the solution the better. This S#*t works great.

Or just add 2-3 cans for a full tank of gas.
