nice DIY thread.
one thing I've heard is that some cars the ground signal doesn't pass through the body very well, so I have a ground going from the body ground to my transmission/starter where it was grounded before.
the ground you took off has 2 grounding points, so find out where the other one was, and at least ground that to the body if you don't want to run another cable all the way to the trunk.
I would also advise getting a circuit breaker near the batter just in case something bad happens to the really long + battery cable.
