I'm leaning towards a DVD head unit with touch screen simply because these video screens provide me with large text and buttons.

I spent quite a few hours reviewing old posts on the this board and have made a couple of calls to Cruthfield. Cruthfield had me convinced that I could do the install myself, but after reading this board, many of you guys seem to add a few custom touches to your installs that I would miss if I do it myself.

I'm pretty picky about my vehicles and don't feel I can trust the installers at Circuit City and Best Buy to care about my car as much as I do. I've had my local auto audio shop do some past work and they are OK. I'd do business with them again, but their prices for equipment are extremely high.

After spending many hours reviewing old posts on the board, I've come to the conclusion that the best bang for my buck would be to buy my equipment from reputable dealers on Ebay and then finding a professional installer who would not mind installing equipment purchased elsewhere. I'd like to find an installer in my area who has experience and takes pride in their work. The installer could do the install through their place of employment or as a "side job". If anyone has a recommendation for a professional installer wihin 2 hours of VA Beach, VA, please let me know. I'd like to buy my euipment from the least expensive reliable dealer, but I'm willing to pay top dollar for an experienced installer who takes pride in their work and will work on my vehicle the same as his own.
If you are looking for a "truly professional" installation you may want to contact my buddy Keith Turner in Newport News. Here's just a sample of his award winning work in Car Audio and Electronics magazine.
