Total cost for a new 7MGTE MKIII JDM Engine from Japan?
OKay, I already did some researching and used the search options. I've read that you need some new ball bearings, ecu, etc to have it in the US model MKIII Supra. Correct?
Anyways, I believe I told you guys before that I was planning to buy a 91 MKIII Supra Turbo from this dealer. He still wont' lower it below $7000. And it's still there. I'm still determined to get it for $2500 at most. Either way, I'll have around $10,000 by the time I eventually buy it from the guy. Which means, I'll probably will have around $7500 left to repair/mod it. Anyways, I've figured that I might need a new engine since the current one has over 120,000 miles and it probably will need some major repair work. So I might as well buy a new engine for it.
So, I would like to have a estimated total from you guys, that'll cost me in order to get a new JDM/Used 7MGTE turbo engine from Japan or around here that sells them, minus the costs for mods. Strictly only for the new engine, which might include the ECU, Tranny, aftermarket BOV (Trust/Greddy maybe?), heard the stock one goes out too fast, etc, etc. Not to mention I might have to restore the chassis a bit and a new L.S.D. Drove the car and the tranny didn't quite respond that well. Sorry for sounding like a noob, but I'd like to hear it from current MKIII owners that might have more knowledge about these things. I only know things for the Camrys.
So U want a sup with 120K? has tha hg been replaced? I purchased my JDM motor from SOKO for 950 delivered 2 my shop door.if u r going to buy a new motor, i would suggest rebuilding/modding the one you already have. deck the head and the block, put a mhg and some arps....and go boost happy . as opposed 2 going stock...then going boost happy and having a jap spec bad headgasket
just my .02
peace
Hmmm..... I see I see. That might be better than buying a new engine. Hmmm...... thanks guys. I can always count on you jeeves. As the look of things, I might need to replace the tranny as well, with the L.S.D too since it sometimes won't catch the gears quite often. As for the engine, the HG, intake, pistons, and the timing belt needs to be replaced by just opening up the hood. I already know the pistons and rods needs to be replaced because the engine knocks when it's turned on. and the guy is still asking for $7800. the guys on crack. The tranny will probably sap up my funds quickly, but it'll be worth it. Thanks for the help guys. I'm learning new things about the MK3 Supras each time I ask.
You're looking (most likely) to build that whole bottom end then. Definately invest in some forged pistons (Wiesco, JE, or CP) and machine everything. Block, Head, etc. Do the works.
Throw in a 1.5mm Greddy MHG and some ARP Studs @ 85-95ft-lbs and you've got a motor ready to do 600+whp.

$10k? No, I meant I will have around $10K total for the car. I'm gonna try to get the dealer lower the price to $2500 at most and then use the rest of the funds to repair/restore/mod it.
You can still do it. I live in California and he did my 3SGTE. All you have to do is mail him the motor. He has a special shipping rate. If you ask him he can give you all the details. When he is done he ship's it back to you. It's very simple acutally.
damn, my supra is still holding the ground down. I need to crackin' on it pretty soon 'cause i don't want a shit load of cars at my dads shop. I already have a camry over there. that's good info. above that i need to keep and get my ass in gear.
