hp build

I'm building a hotrod , and using the 7M-GTE for the power plant . I'm hoping for around the 400rwhp area , and this is what I got sofar .

88 7mgte stock ct26
unrestricted down pipe and 3" exh.
lexas AFM
550 cc injectors
walbro 255lph pump
and a fuel/boost management piggyback .

I have been told I will need a wideband O2 and have to run 100+ octane

help ?

You should be able to see low to mid 300 on pump gas with that arrangement. To cross over 400, you would need a larger turbo. You could just upgrade the CT26 and run it at the limit for it's sure to be short life, or replace and go with a larger turbo for greater longevity, efficiency and performance. For power levels in the 400-500 range, there are a few bolt on turbo upgrade options.

Engine management...for hot rods, just go standalone. The nightmare of working a Toyota computer into a custom harness is going to drive you mental. The wideband is for tuning, and most engine tuners have them on the dyno already. No need to purchase one unless you plan on doing all your own tuning.

Octane, up to 500 you should still be on pump gas. 94 octane. If you need more, you need better engine management

I think he pretty much said it all. If you're actually going for a 'hot rod' I wouldn't suggest using the factory ECU to do it.

Other than that, see brieger's post.
