Let's talk about an all motor torque monster. I've got an 87 mkIII with no motor. Well, it has a motor, but it's all busted and I'm gonna swap it. Since I can't drive the darn thing 190 mph...I wanna max it's torque so I can do the 0-60 thing. If I buy the 7mge motor, which I can get stupid cheap just about anywhere, what are the best torque gains I'm gonna get out of it. By this I mean, which parts should I be swappin out? Or should I not waste my time on it, wait a little while longer and get a 7mgte. but then I'll have to swap the tranny as well for the turbo tranny right?
My opinion? 7M-GTE, with either increased boost (with supporting mods) on the stock CT26 - if not, a small-ish, quicker-spooling upgraded turbo. Many NA mods sacrifice low end for peak power...
Technically you can keep the NA tranny (it'll work), but it won't hold too far beyond stock power levels of the GTE.
I second the Lexus. They go pretty cheap at the wreckers as nobody seems to want them. Not the first time someone has swapped one in either, so a search of the other popular Supra resources on the net will give you a more detailed overview of what is required.

+1. You're just not going to get the power out of a 7M-GE to make it worthwhile. Your best bet will be a larger displacement all motor alternative. Or just suck it up and get the GTE.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
If you have the room try to get a totaled out car. Find a junk yard that has one thats all smashed up. Go down there with a tow truck or a trailer and haul the whole thing off, or have the yard cut the front end off for you. Its much cheaper and easier than trying to piece things togeather. Then you can sell the leftovers back to a recycle yard. Its not much, but it will cover the cost of gas.

whatever I find...i want it to be manual transmission...I'm noticing that alot of the lexus motors that are going to be worth it HP and torque wise are automatics.
Am I going to have to bite the bullet and drive an automatic or what?
Any machinist can make an adapter plate to go from the 1uz to the R154. Nothing new. There are actually a couple of shops out there that do custom bell housings, though the one I remember most is in australia so shipping might be a little punishing.
My buddy for a while owned THE fastest N/A Supra. at least the fastest i've ever seen or heard of... he put about 15k into the engine and was only able to make around 345RWHP... thats pretty damn good out of a 7MGE... he still has the engine and said he'd sell me it for 7000 and it needs new valves to to be acid dipped (cant exactly think of the technical term cause im an idiot ATM...

Yeah, one of the Aussie V8 MX73 Cressida guys is also running a W57 with his 1UZ. He's since reverted it to automatic and is tossing all his goodies (twin throttle body setup, among other things) into MZ10 Soarer he'll be swapping to V8
