Update on My Mk3 [Not that you all care about Mr.Hardass :) ]

Well, I've got good news and bad news about the Supra. For the last three weekends I've been devoting my Saturdays and Sundays to getting my damn car running. Well, Sunday was the final day. All looked good. Got the exhaust on, got the turbo bolts and all cinched up. Looked good in all respects.

About 9pm tonight, my brother and I were putting the finishing touches on the top end. I top off the coolant, check for leaks, do the same for the oil, and so on.

I then look around.. Wait... where's my blow off valve... Wait... I haven't seen it in quite some time. ****. The parts have been stored at my brothers house in a corner of the garage for the last year, and it seems there's been a lot of shady people through there.

I proceed to tear apart the garage, shed, supra, camry, my room at home, and any other place I can think to hold it. It's not anywhere.

So, after three FULL weekends of work, machine work, parts, etc. Someone stole my hardpipe, flange and HKS SSQV Blow Off Valve. The LAST part I need to get the Supra running has been stolen.

Here's as she sit's right now...

and here's what it should look like:

So, Since it's $370 from HK$ and though they can be had for $250 online, I still can't afford to put a SSQV back on Right Now. I'll be reverting to stock piping, and a stock blow off valve

Makes me sad.

On a side note, I was talking with a buddy of mine and compiled a list of things I'll be able to monitor with the instrumentation going into the car.

Quote:
Monitorable Points:

Factory Dash -
1) RPM
2) Speed
3) Oil Pressure
etc.etc.etc.

HKS Boost Gauge -
1) Manifold Boost Pressure

Zeitronix ZT2 Wideband O2 - (All Log-able)
1) Wideband O2
2) EGT
3) Lambda
4) Boost (5v User Unput?)

APEXi S-AFC 2 - (Max. 4 Displayed at any one time)
1) RPM
2) Knocking Level
3) Air Amount Correction Factor
4) Karman Sensor Freq. (Faux - Created by VPC)
5) Throttle %
6) Battery Voltage

APEXi AVC-R - (Max. 4 Displayed at any one time)
1) Intake Manifold Boost Pressure
2) RPM (Either #2 or #3, not both at the same time)
3) Injector Duty Cycle (Either #2 or #3, not both at the same time)
4) Speed
5) Throttle %
6) Solenoid Valve Duty Cycle
Though, I've also got this coming:

3.5" Piping, replaces the cat, one resonator, goes to a Megan Racing Muffler, w/silencer so I can putz to work or the gym w/o drawing the attention of every police officer w/in a 5 mile radius. Got it for $350 shipped, new.

Originally the guy was making it to go on his car to make max power at the Supras Invade Las Vegas meet, but he didn't finish in time. Since he'd already agreed to sell it, he decided to just make it to my specs.

and lastly, here's my car, as emo and tweaked as a crackhead on MySpace:

[click fo' biggah]

So, yeah. Maybe this weekend I'll get the car running. Expect an update.

EDIT: -----------------
I just realized that I neglected to mention anything about getting the car getting up and running. About two months ago, I finally got tired of driving my FWD, Automatic Camry and decided to get the Supra back together. W/the assistance of a buddy (and a lit fire under my ass), I picked up an MHG, a spare Cylinder head, got some machining done, etc. and slowly put it all back together.
The things I really lack right now are 550cc injectors, Clutch (Will be going with a HorsepowerFreaks.com Feramic clutch setup) and my forged pistons. People have done 600hp on the stock internals, but still, I don't like to push it. I'm also running the Head off of an N/A engine, so we'll see if I get any difference in power between the NA Cams and the Turbo cams I had in my old head.

Things I've got going into my car:
- Zeitronix ZT2 Wideband w/LCD Screen
- HKS VPC (MAF -> Speed Density Converter)
- ApexI S-AFC2 (Fuel Tuning)
- ApexI AVC-R (Boost Control)
- Greddy EGT + Thermocouple
- PCV Catch Can (No more Oil in the intercooler)
- Walbro 255 Fuel Pump/Bypassed J-Tube restrictor.
- a few other things that I'm sure I'm spacing out.

I dropped my new turbo, manifold and downpipe off with a buddy so he could weld a V-Band flange onto the turbo instead of using that heat expansion ring/press fit flange it came with. In doing so, we also spec'd out the turbo: It's a 57Trim, Garrett TwinScroll/Divided Housing T4 turbo with a P-Trim hotside. Looking at the clip on the exhaust wheel, my turbo guy was saying I should expect full boost by 3,000rpm. That's hot.

So, as soon as the welding is done, that whole new turbo setup will be going into my car, along with the new exhaust. I'll be keeping the boost low, and watching my Wideband A/F's, but it should be a blast. From there, I get to figure out how to fit my upgraded intercooler and hardpipes into the car. I'm finally gettin' excited about this :-D

Anywho, there's the real update.

ahmedootie,
EGT = Exhaust Gas Temp. Before wideband O2's became common, it was an extremely useful measurement by which to tune a car. It's almost a fine are, but to sum it up Too Hot = Too Lean, Too Cold = Too Rich.

Thermocouple: A temperature sensor created by joining two dissimilar metals. The junction produces a small voltage as a function of the temperature.

Where as an oil pressure gauge has an 'oil pressure sending unit', EGT's use thermocouples as their 'sensors'.

As for the Turbo XS I'm thankful for the offer but for the time being I'm just going to run stock hardware (and hope the BOV doesn't fail). It's cheaper than paying shipping and saves all my money in order to buy a new HKS.

repinS,
Yeah, it sucked to work for three weekends only to get dicked in the last 15minutes of the assembly. I wanted to drive it home that night.

All things said and done, I should be back to 95% by saturday night. Cross your fingers for me all.

I'm just praying the MHG makes a good seal. I'd be pissed to go through all this work, only to fire it up and have white smoke pouring out the exhaust.

Sheer curiousity, what did you do about any gas sitting in the gas tank? I just realized I've got like 7gallons of 1 1/3 year old 91 Octane gas sittin' in the tank.

Edit: Fixed my first post. Didn't notice an image wasn't showin' up.

Siphon it out of the tank. Replace the fuel filter. Put fresh gas in. Disconect the fuel line some where up front. Turn the ingnition on and let about a gallon or so of fuel run into a bucket. This will purge the fuel system of bad gas. You will be good to go.

Who's blue Supra is up top. I would like to know where they got that blue color 2.5 twin turbo trim. I need it for mine.

I put it in a Jerry can (or several) and began feeding it to the lawnmower. Expensive use of 94 octane, and it's going to take 2-3 years at this rate, but uses it up. You might throw in a fuel stabilizer as well if you go my route, but I doubt it will do all that much to the little Lawn Boy!

I'm thinking, I'll just purge the system of it, and drop in a good 5gal of new 91. It's also got 'temporary oil' in it before I throw in my Mobil1.

As for the blue supra, that's the owner of 935Motorsports, Robert.

1) There's a drain plug in the bottom of the Mk3's Gas tank. Takes a 3/8" (put a 3" Extension on your 3/8" socket). Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Prepare to COMPLETELY drain the tank. This is what I did.

2) It Runs.
http://www.**********s.com/rsw/itruns.avi

3) The stock elbow/downpipe is KILLING me.

4) Still have to finish:
- 89 Steering wheel
- VPC
- IC
- IC Hardpipes
- Stereo
- HKS SSQV (Bought another one)
- EGT
- T4 Turbo
- T4 Manifold
- HKS External Wastegate

All of these things I have in my hands.

Not really. As I didn't actually forge the bottom end yet, it's just a new hg/head. Really, since it's been heat cycled I need to get in and do a retorque, but other than watching my A/F's and such and waiting for my new BOV to come in, I'm just putzin' around.

For those curious, here's my interior gauges at the moment:
http://www.**********s.com/rsw/itruns2.avi

...and for those curious, this is how I temporarily replaced my Missing BOV.

HKS Racing Bypass valve on loan from a buddy.

Care to take a guess as to which of those pieces dosen't stay together @ 10psi?
