USA hey guys, im new to this forum

hey guys,

i just signed up at this forum and decided to check it out. i have a couple of questions...i found a used 1989 5 sp turbo supra for $1500 (targa top thing). is that a good deal? are they reliable cars?

also, is that twin turbo or single turbo? like did it come in different kinds of turbo for that model of supra?

sorry guys, im a newb at this...but yeah thanks for the replies!

single turbo...unless your in japan...7mgte is the motor code...5 spd turbo targa is an amazing price, but you want to check the headgasket..it is most likely bad on it. and are they reliable cars? they CAN be...but probably not

For an 89, you can expect a couple things, a neglected head gasket (waiting to pop), a blown head gasket or the like. More than likely, the targa top will leak (the seals are horrid), a number of other issues will more than likely plague you as well.

Honestly, for a first car (especially for those not mechanically inclined), I would never suggest the Mk3 Supra.

ya wanting to learn to work on cars and starting with a supra isnt a good idea as im now finding out ;p

but oh well, like learning swim in the ocean, once you learn going to a pool to swim will be cake.

But get ready to shell more out than you paid for repairs.
