84 Supra 5MGE Timing Belt replacement

Just purchased a 1984 Supra and I'm in the process of making sure all the little details are taken care of. I'm not sure what the milage is on the timing belt and when I inspected it, it looks not bad but the inside of the covers are filled with crap (black oily dust). Figured I would replace the belt. Looking through several online manuals and they all instruct to remove the Crankshaft Timing Pully and Oil Pump Drive Pully. I don't see why this is necassary. Once the crankshaft pully and No 1 Timing Belt cover is removed, won't the timing belt just come off all of the pully's? Am I missing something?

You have to take the crankshaft pulley out so you can take the lower timing belt cover off.

I realize that, I was referring to the Crankshaft Timing Pully which is behind the cover.

On the 7m, the timing pulley can remain, and I think the same for the 5m, but it's really been a long time since I've seen it.

That's the Crank gear.

Just pop it out anyway to check if the crank seal is leaking.
