no boost?

hey im new hear and i dont know a whole lot about turbo supras. my friend just picked up an 90 or 91 turbo supra 5 speed. the car has a pretty rotted exhaust and seems to have to much back pressure and is not making more than 1 psi when under a load. all the turbo boost pipes were replaced about a week ago and still makes no boost. one thing i noticed was that the turbo was glowing red last night when i was done driving the car last night

You hit the nail on the head when you said rotted exhaust; does the car have a cat...it's probably glogged. When this happens your turbo will light up like a Christmas tree; first thing is first: if the exhaust system is that rotten then replace it as well as the cat...good luck.
