Retorque ARP head studs?

I just installed a reman head on an 89 Supra Turbo (along with a Toyota head gasket) and secured it with ARP head studs. Per the included instructions (and information from this forum) I torqued the nuts to 80ft lbs. Should these be retorqued and if so, when should that be done?
Thank you

It's common to retorque head studs on a Metal Head Gasket. It's a commonly debated topic for a stock head gasket. Some say it leads to a blown head gasket, other say it helps.

I've never retorqued a Stock HG.

retorques change the stresses pinning the gasket down. By doing it again, you may change the seal as the gasket is relieved of pressure, and it is tightened down and that little bit of movement may not ever let seal properly again after the fire rings deform...then again, if the bolts/studs back off, you may blow it again too. Hence it is a debated topic, and each person comes to their own conclusions. If it is a new gasket, torque to 72+, then read and decide for yourself what you are comfortable with.

o i thought retorquing was just testing each bolts torque to see if they are still at the same torque didnt know the whole process

yep, i agree... i've never retorqued on a composite headgasket, they held about 19-20psi for a short while
