A new headgasket doesn't guarentee anything. It's the machined block/head, ARP hardware and a metal head gasket that'll save you eventually.

Nope, don't know of such a place. The best place I knew of just tested the motors to see if they ran.

Re: Where to get motors

I purchased a Mitsubishi 2.0 turbo motor from Osaka JDM Motors for a reasonable price and was very satisfied with the transaction. You would have to contact them to verify stock but they list a 7MGTE for $700.00 USD. They are located in Montreal, P.Q., Canada, their number is 1-800-270-5712 and their website is www.osakajdmmotors.com . They also do not replace anything but do test the motors prior to removal.

JSpec is saying $1099 for a used engine that's the same as everywhere else, last I saw the average was ~$700 + Shipping.
