Personally I think Wolfie's an Idiot for
removing a turbo timer. I don't care if he doesn't like electronics. To remove something as useful as that is like removing gas heating from a house because it's not the way the pioneers did it.
Turbo timers are very helpful, and as you can read on the driver side door panel, there's a sticker placed there to tell you to turbo time the car. The simplicity of them much outweighs their sub-$100 cost. My $0.02, Get one. It was my second mod, and I don't look back on it for a second.

BOV wise I have a sheep dog BOV from japan, Turbo Smart which is an australian maker but you should be able to get them there make REALLY good quality bov's that release atmo and sound reasonably good and do there job well. Or you could just go for a HKS SSQV, theres many different bov's but some do sound like crap if they are atmo release...with your supra though you will need the plumback kit for the bov, i cant remember what it does but you get problems on 7M's when you dont plumb it back.

You do not need to plumb the bov back into the intake. Here's the problem. When a blow off valve dumps air to atmosphere, it's dumping air that the computer is expecting to go into the engine. So, it thinks there's more air going into the engine than there is, runs rich for a second, then fixes itself. Coming upto a stop sign, some people have minor stalling issues, others like myself, have NEVER had an issue running a BOV venting to atmosphere.
Personally, I'd recommend the HKS SSQV. It can be piped back into the intake like Stock, or it can go to atmosphere. It also has a better method of functioning than most other BOV's. However, it's not cheap.
In my opinion, the stock BOV is fine, unless it's leaking. As a BOV isn't a performance modification, there's really not a reason to replace it unless it's failing or you're pushing >9-10psi.

Exhaust you can go custom or look into a good 3" catback...i'm running an Apexi Bomber II 3" catback exhaust, i recoommend upgrading the down pipe off the turbo as the stock one is restrictive, get a high flow cat or if legal in the US remove the cat completely out of the picture.
|
The exhaust itself isn't the biggest issue at all, it's the restriction introduced in the stock turbo elbow. My suggestion is to pick up a good 3" downpipe that replaces the turbo elbow, then complete it with a full 3" exhaust system to a free-flowing muffler. Baffled mufflers introduce backpressure (required for NA cars) but bad for turbo cars.

I wouldnt worry about a pod filter or anything, i noticed NO gain at all...intake filter mods are a waist of time and money...if you want one you have to get one that can fit infront of the AFM because unlike a turbo-a you're not running MAP.

Another reason I think Wolfie's a fool. I noticed an immediate gain when I put on an intake. If you look at where the turbo sucks air from, it's a smalll hole through a dense filter medium that introduces more lag, and limits the turbo severly.
Look into a good K&N Drop in filter, or a K&N Cold Air Induction setup. Both will improve performance a decent amount.
