Targa

My MKIII doesn't have a targa I was just wondering if it was a good idea if I put in the targa top this summer. I know there's stability issues, so just wondering if its at all worth it.

Lang;

I battled with this topic for a while as mine also isn't a Targa and i always wanted one. Two things stopped me:

1) Targa's have a boat load of extra meat to handle the fact that half the roof is missing. Whoever cuts your roof to make a targa will NOT be reinforcing the chassis for sure.
2) Non-Targa's are getting very rare. Let's take my car for example...I know there are others out there but out of the hundreds of supra's I've seen in person over the last 10 years I've yet to see an Arctic Package; Turbo; Non Targa. When I go to meets people are actually excited that it's not a targa cause they never see non targa's.

I say keep it the way it is...they can never build it the way it came from the factory. Plus; you know we can always kick the targa's guys buts on the track...that's as good a reaon as any to stay non targa .

You also don't convert a car to targa, you sell the hardtop shell and purchase a targa. Conversion would be next to impossible for the same money. Heck, you could probably just purchase the targa and keep the hardtop for less money than to convert the hardtop...

Someone else discussed this, search for it. It's a horrid idea.

You have to strip a healthy amount to make up for that damn piece of leaky, removable metal.
