85 supra check connector

I bought a supra p type 5speed w about 230,000 on it. It has a cresseda's 5mge in it, because the TPS I had to replace came from a cresseda and not a supra. Anyway, One day I replaced the timming belt. I went to time the engine which requires the check connector to be bridged. Absolutely nothing happened nothing. Here is a list of the things I have done the past year to get it to work, yeah YEAR.
- Replaced the ECU no change, returned it.
- Replaced the distributo no change.
- Checked and rechecked the timming belt tesion and cam gear alignment, fine
- Bridged the wires going into the dist to simulate no advance, useless test
- Continuity tests on relevant wires going to ECU multiple times, all fine
- Bridged check conector w O2 sensor, apprent change in engine RPM but did not take advance off
- Replaced O2 sensor no change, alot better gas mileage though.
- Taken car to mechanic, they told me to sell it or some extravagant 60 bucks and hour diagnosis. No thanks
I have spent about 100 hours on thi,s and all on the obviously wrong cause of the problem.
Registration was due so I paid a guy to make it pass. he told me that it passed on its own but the advance was the only thing that would have made it fail. I time the engine by sound and it seems fine. I just recently blew a head gastket so that and rebuild is in the future. Any help on the check connector from the electically inclined would be apreciated

You may get more response on MKII tech from celicasupra.com. Not a lot of MKII owners hang here, though we like having them around!
