i have done a lot during this blown headgasket business and i am clipping in the harness on the intake side and forgot where this one goes..i cant find it anywhere
Originally there are two VSV's down there one for EGR one for the Fuel Pressure Regulator. I don't have a running mk3 so I can't go check, but a quick look through my photos I couldn't see that specific connector. My guess is that it's one or the other, EGR or FPR VSV. But I don't know for certain.
i tried to start it today and the starter tried to turn it and it struggled for a second...then a lil pop from the exhaust but nothing...its not starting
anyone know?
another important question is, how important that lil ground wire on the coil pack is? mine broke off and was gonna replace it
the screw is rounded out..is there more places i can put it?

General rule, ALL grounds are important. I'd definatly call that a possibility. I'd also be looking at the Cam Position Sensor. It's also well known for preventing starts.
Does it crank and crank and crank and just never catch?

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
testing my timing light on my buddys car i found the light is out..so yea that was use less
but i got it to start and then it just dies..i thought maybe the timing was 180degrees off but nope i checked it the #1 is at its peak when the cams are.
im thinking i didnt gap my ngk platinums sooo i am gonna take them out and check the gap...im pretty sure it has to be .32 so im hoping that is just the problem.
but i got it to start and die...any ideas?...sometimes i hear when the car dies after its off it has a bit of a suction where the intake is, and the airfilter does a slight blow off. there is smoke so i doubt its not getting spark.
the whole time i had my buddys car connected to keep the battery from dieing.
Full a plug wire, slap a spare plug into it, ground the plug out and see if it's firing. That right there will tell you if that ground wire is necessary. If it's firing there, I'd check fuel. But that's afterward.
