need help with new to me car

I just bought a 91 turbo supra from a very nice old man. I have been driving it for one week and every morning when I start the car it has a very long crank and then idles rough for about 2 seconds then idles at 1500 rpm. The rpms slowly come back down to normal as the engine warms up. I need some advice on this plz.

Might be the cold start injector. 1500 is a hair high, but most Supra's I've been in exhibit the same starting as you describe at their age

Mine has a habit to run up to about 1800rpm untill it warms up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it causes other adverse problems.

Hehehehe, mine takes a few times to actually crank over, only when its cold...It being a california car I am assuming it really never experienced 0 degree winters lol...don't even worry about it taking a while, as long as it all runs fine when its warm

I agree with all... sounds like a pretty typical and normal condition... one not to worry about.

I would also like to know some basic mods for this car.....nothing major just some minor handling and engine improvements. Im new to the supra world but notnew to performance, Id like to know what works for these cars and what doesn't. Links to sites would be great.

Boost...the higher it goes, the faster you do. A simple exhaust and some more boost should suffice for now, then you can go farther when you learn more about the car. Keep it under 10PSI...that little increase wakes it up quite a bit, and doesn't stress the factory stuff too much.

Springs and struts and sway bars are the basic suspension mods...and as far as most people ever go. Koni dampers and eibach springs tend to make their owners very happy, and are IMO a great street arrangement, though on a tight budget, tokico blues can be put in instead of the koni's and seem alright. Alternatively, if your factory parts are still good, some like the tokico's with sway bars and leave the stock springs...doesn't lower the car, but is a very capable and still comfortable street setup. At the high end, there's coilovers. I have a set of Tein FLEX's on my car, and am purchasing whiteline sway bars. I'm overall happy with them, and if I had to do it again, would also consider the Tein SS, lower price, a few less features, but overall a good setup.

For springs and sway bars, you might also look at the whiteline ones that raptorracing is group buying right now. Check the vendor/group buy section in the main forums area for more details. Good price, good seller, supra owner too.
