I'm only expecting 400rwhp and the money I've spent on 'required mods/upgrades' far surpasses $8000. Not only was the 7mgte NOT made for 400rwhp in factory form but everything about the MK2 chassis wasn't either.
Unless you have a death wish or you like blowing stuff up the following are 120% necessary:
-upgraded springs/shocks/struts
-upgraded brakes; preferable a big brake kit as the tiny brakes on the mk2 are totally inadequate with 400hp no matter what rotor/pad combination you go with
-14" rubber is totally useless with that power level; my friends 300rwhp mk2 lights up his 255/40/17's at 14psi...
-the w58 transmission will grenade on your anywhere near 400hp; so plan on slapping in a r154
-You'll need to take that diff out and replace it with a true-trac unless you want to change diff's every week
-i could go on but I won't...even if all the engine work and upgrades were free you're easily looking at many thousands in supporting mods...unless you think 20year old suspension and brakes can handle all that power...in that case just let me know where you're driving so i can avoid that route.
I'm not sure if you're serious about buying that kit; if you are I personally think you're making a huge mistake. Have you ever driven a 300rwhp mk2; this will get you easily into the 12's everyday. An upgraded ct26 will get you into the 11's no problem...that turbo kit is waaaay overkill...you're either going to kill yourself or smack the car into a wall. Not to diss this forum cause it's a wealth of resources but you're not going to find all the info you want here. What i'm talking about has been done by dozens and dozens of people all over the world...go to:
www.celicasupra.com and go to the forum. There's enough info there to keep you busy for the rest of the month.
If you want to seriously seriously discuss this we can...but before you start on this little venture you need to understand what kind of work is involved in this. Judging by some of the question you are asking my best advice to you is drive the car the way it is; start working on the chassis while you read and learn what's out there. Jumping into 600hp engine mods is just the wrong way to do it.
Peace...
Oh BTW...i'm not a mod and don't want to step on anyone's toes but if you really want people to help you keep all your question in 1 or 2 posts. Asking 10 questions in 10 different posts is a nice way to get ignored by people. It adds clutter to forums and people usually start ignoring threads like that sooner or later. It also is hard for people like us to know what we've answered in other posts. If I don't remember if I've replied or not to something and I have to search 5 posts to figure it out i WON'T search for it...simplify things and you'll get the help you need.
