Surging Throttle

so i had a TPS sensor code. so i bought the same one used on ebay that was supposed to work. when i put it on, the idle would go up and down and wasn't right. when i put the old one back and did a little adjustment it was right. but now...the problem is that is when i go past 1500 RPM...its shoots back down to 800 or around there. i can't go faster than 20MPH on a flat surface. Anyone know what could of happened?

after the whole deal i cleared the codes and then started it up and reved it all the way to the 1500 i could and the TPS code came back. i dont think i have it calibrated right...but would that cause it to surge? or does that just adjust my idle?

You have to calibrate the TPS, it's a VERY VERY precise procedure, don't even think of trying to diagnose things till you calibrate it.

right. well i fixed my problem. i had the tps on backwards. not the thing itself, but the blades of the throttle with the blades of the tps. theres a notch on the 2 blades of the tps which i figured the matches up with the blades of the throttle. it actually goes on the other side of the notch. no more surging. i adjusted the tps a little and the idle and throttle seems to be better than from the beginning. just gotta check that code.
