failing emissions?

i saw a carfax report of my car and it has failed emissions test more times than its passed. it looked like each time it had to be tested it took 3 tries before passing. when i just did my emissions last month it passed first time with very good marks. why would it fail so much before i had it? in the carfax report it shows emissions failed, then a bunch of repairs like egr pvc and stuff like that. then another failed emissions test.

ya that was certainly my first thought ha. but i dont want to run into problems later on and not know where to begin. or if the history of failing emissions is a sign of problems to come....

I would suggest that if the repairs were done fairly recently, it should be good to go. You have a 20 year old car...of course things need repair, and emissions repairs are generally only done when they are needed...to pass emissions.
