Canada Hello folks, Newbie here

Im new so bare with me.

My father just got a 1991 Toyota Supra Turbo. I don't think he knows what he is getting himself into because I took a look at this car and it needs ALOT of work done.

Supposedly the car has a "new" engine in it, I guess just a new used working one. GT-7something, I forgot the series name. But we've already had problems with it not being able to rev, etc.

Can anyone point me to an online PDF manual for this car? I think we will need it because we've never worked on a turbo'ed car before.

But people tell me THIS CAR IS WELL WORTH THE HASSLE OF FIXING. I myself cannot justify it, but my Dad likes it, obviously my mom doesn't either. If it were in better condition then it is now, I would be able to justify it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share and get some help!

THANKS

I'm Canadian btw, eh...

The engine is the 7MGTE it is a 3.0L I6. The factory turbo is the CT-26.

Check the usual things: vac leaks, intake leaks, fuel, spark and compression. Especially compression. The 7M is notorious for blowing head gaskets. If it hasn't been done already replace the stock one with a metal unit. Also the valve covers leak even worse than a small block Chev. Pull the cover off of the center of the head and check the plug wells for oil. I doubt it has a new engine. It more likely has a low mileage used engine in it.

Get familiar with www.supraforums.com. The search function is very useful when it's working right. It's been down lately because they are cleaning up. Basically anything you want or need to know is in that site, and most of the time the people are willing to help.
