Wheels tilted/canted?

Hey Folk!

I just got an 83 Supra turbo...now, it was a junker but in great mechanical shape, picked it up for 500 dollars...here's the question!

It seems like the rear wheels are tilted inwards towards the top...like this:

/----\

That woudl be the image of the rear of the car, with the slashes representing the wheels. It is just slight though, not quite as pronounced as that. Question being, is this normal? Or what should I be looking for to fix it, if it isn't normal?

Normal. You can get it altered with an alignment, but they all have a slight negative camber. The idea is that in a corner, the lean of the car and the flex of the tire will actually make it perfectly vertical, giving the largest contact patch and thus the most traction. The degree of camber required depends on the purpose, and for just cruising or taking it to the drag strip, you ideally want very little. If you push it through the twisties, you need a bit more.

Well...it's an inline 6 turbo charged...so a swap may have been done....runs like a dream too, though its a rust bucket...but most definitely an inline 6, and most definitely turbo...unless they've got the turbo in there to maximize the air conditioning

Now...with the wheels canted as such, will I notice any difference in tire wear?

Most definately.

So, it's a mkII with a 7M-GTE swapped into it?

Might be a turbo 5M as well. The valve covers are a dead giveaway.

7M (except the twin turbo manifold)

5M HKS Turbo Kitted (factory valve covers were black of course)
