I have a 1990 supra that had a blown motor. So i put one in from an 88 but my mechanic just spliced into the injectors instead of switching the fuel rail. Now it cranks fine and compression, timing, fuel, and air check out but there is something fuckered up in the injectors i think. If you splice into injectors wires shouldn't you soder them and then seal them up with that shrink wrap or use a butt-connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of not being able to drive it.

That's how I've done injectors, how'd he do it?
Really, you just said fuel checked out, How did you test it?

Solder and shrink wrap each wire. Make sure the wires are going to the correct ones. Ex. #6 injector has #6 injector clip from the harness plugged into it.

Well when i crank on it for a while it will start but for like a whole second and then die. I hooked a noid light up to it and a couple injectors arent getting spark but i wanna to double check his "splicing job" because the 90 wiring harness has different colors than the 88. I wanna check before i go and soder and shrink wrap them shut. Its got fuel pressure too. I heard that they switched from low imp. to high imp. injectors around 89 so since im using the 90 wiring harness and comp. would i need to switch the injectors too?
Injectors should be the same for all 7m mk3's, of course varying if you are turbo (440cc) or non-turbo (3XXcc).
I really don't understand why he couldn't undo the clips and just unplug them instead of cutting them. It would have taken him less time to do that instead of bothering with splicing/soldering..... The clips are no different than the 30 others that had to be disconnected to pull the engine. I can not stand the dumb shit shops do...

SuprAdam,
That's incorrect, the impedence changed on the N/A Injectors from the pre-89 to the 89+ years. Turbo's however, used the same impedence across all the years.
Mk4 TT's ran 550cc's from the factory. The biggest issue in using them in a mk3? The impedance. Their impedance is like 13.8Ohm. In fact, I think once OBDII hit, all Injectors ran @ 13.8Ohm.
For clarification, Cylinders get spark and fuel, Injectors supply fuel, spark plugs supply spark. If some aren't getting fuel, while others are, I'd say match the wiring from one of the injector's that's working to one that isn't. I'm still curious, what method did he use to wire 'em together?
Really, what this actually sounds like is a damaged cam position sensor wire(s).
On the passenger side of the block, near the front, there is a round thing sticking out of the head. Out of it are four wires, they plug into a harness. Jiggle the wires, and the harness while someone cranks. My bet is that's where the issue is, not spark or fuel.

bah nobody cares about the damn n/a's!
Mk4 injectors won't work on a mk3 without a custom fuel rail setup...MK3 uses top feed injectors, mk4 uses side feed.
And yes the problem could be a number of things...Clean up your wirring firstly then clear your engine codes, turn the engine on and then check for codes. If you have spark, and fuel, chances are your issue is timing (cps like jeeves said.) Timing could be way off or you could just be a tooth off on the CPS gear.

I'm not saying it's timing at all, I'm saying the wires are well known to be baked by heat, become brittle and fail to work. It's incredibly common on the 7M-GTE due to the CPS' proximity to the turbo, exhaust manifold and the head in general.
If the ECU fails to see an Ne or a G signal while it is cranking it will not produce an IGt signal, thus preventing igniter operation.
It's the green connector.

So since im using the 90 ecu and the motor has the 88 injectors, do u suggest i get the high impedence ones. Cause 2.7 ohms and 13.8 ohms is a big difference and couldnt that mess with the ecu signal a bit.
By the way he just cut the wires about 3 inches from the injectors so that he didn't have to mess with the throttle body and the intake manifold. And then he jsut wire crimped them together. What a lazy ass corn-cob.

Are you N/A or Turbo? Turbo it doesn't matter (they're the same), N/A it's a big deal. Nevermind, I just read your profile. Yes, those injectors are different. Swap in the old ones and try again.

Are you sure they're not shorting?

You may have that type of sensor on your turbo but i think mine just plugs into my distributor. You turbo guys have your fancy coil packs. Do u guys know of anywhere where i can get some injectors for a reasonable price. Autozone and Advance have some but they are pretty expensive.

used on ebay or on Supraforums.com / supramania.com for sale sections.
You can probably easily get n/a injectors (all 6) for $50 or less.
