Intermittent skip

I have tried searching the forum for an answer to this problem but am not having any success so I am asking for guidance again. I have an 89 Supra turbo and have been sorting through a number of problems following a top end rebuild. (Jeeves has been a great help to this point!) My newest problem is, following a water pump change/cooling system air bleed, the car idles fine but when the RPMs are increased, the engine skips (misses?). It does not do it all the time and the engine starts and idles with no problems. I took the car out on the road for the first time since the project started 2 days ago and it ran great. I didn't notice anything but could I have knocked off something during the water pump R+ R? I appreciate any assistance you can provide.
Thank you

In the water pump area I can't think of many things you can really disturb. There's that nest of connections (CPS, Coolant Temp Sensor, O2 Sensor) but none of the above would really cause a miss.

Any more details? RPMs? Sounds?

Re:Intermittent skip

Sorry for the delay in response as I appreciate you posting quickly. I had written a reply but did something wrong and it never posted. The car starts fine and idles at about 800 RPMs with no problems. Sometimes, you can increase the RPMs with no problems but other times the engine will seem to stop for a second when you increase the RPMs to about 2000 - 2500. I am unable to hear any abnormal noise when this occurs. The wires and plugs have been changed with factory replacements but I do not know when the fuel filter was last changed. (problem?) It was also suggested to me to put some dry gas in as this might cause these symptoms. I did that today and ran the car for 20 min. and had no problems. The only other thing that I can think of that struck me as abnormal was just after the problem occured the first time, when I removed the positive battery cable, there was an arc to the igniter assy (approx. 1" away from the case) Was this a capacitive discharge and if so, do I have a grounding problem? Thanks for your help.

In the event that others run into a similar situation, I wanted to post an update to my problem. I think the problem was a bad connection at the battery. Since I have corrected this, I have run the car three times and had no more occurrances of the skip.

how bizarre. it might be who of you to check your ground connections. i have seen it before where the connection is just bad enough to cause problems during high alternator output. grounds can really effect the operation of a vehicle, and they are typically overlooked.
