and what's this?
these are below the steering wheel, by the pedal area.
what are these wires? i was digging around and found them hanging there? is it a big deal?
That looks like a set of ignition interupt switch wires and a ground for the remote switch..I have the same thing..There aperantly had been a aftermarket alarm at one time and they removed it to put it in there new car..

but also, my 1986.5 supposedly had one of those stock alarms and i want it to work again... i even see the extra horn it uses up near the cruise control actutator thing.... but it won't work after locking with the key and unlocking fron inside, even after several minutes = something is obviously gone/cut....
I know one thing that may cause it, i have a broken passenger door sensor....
if that is a possible cause could tie the two wires together (or something like that) in that switch to get it to think my door is shut? something broke the button so i took out the broken parts...i dont know what kind of wires hook to it though.....
what about those wires in the earlier posted pics? definately aftermarket?

Pull the interior paneling off the door, look at the back of the lock cylinders. There's a plastic sensor that's strapped to the back of the door locks. It has a grooved piece that fits into the lock mechanism. Using this it can tell if an actual key has been used to open the door. Often the clips break from age and it falls off the cylinder.

Who came up with this 500px wide BS?
would the broken passenger door sensor have anything to do with my problem? My interior lights work as normal though so i guess it assumes the door is shut...otherwise it would keep my dome lights on...
yeah i understood that...i just know of another sensor that is broken and it is the one that senses if my door is shut...
I'll check the key sensors once i get the rest of my car squared away...thank you.
Since this is a what are these wires for thread...i'll post some of my own!
Here is a wire in my firewall wire cluster...just thought i'd see if anyone might know what it was.... (and yes i'm in the process of cleaning my engine bay...so don't worry)
and this thing is just behind the front upper lip of the car above the bumper...what's it do?
and lastly, there is a sensor on my dash at the rightmost corner near the windshield that was covered with a tinted black plastic cover (which i broke.. d'oH!) and i was wondering what it was. If i recall correctly it had the DENSO logo on it.

#1 - Main wiring harness... which when zoomed leads to #2.
#2 - Looks like someone ran a wire for an amplifier or other high power application.
#3 - Not sure myself. I'm 90% sure it's a temp sensor of some kind though. May be related to AC.
#4 - The black plastic is just a daylight sensor. No one I've talked to knew what it actually controlled, but it's just there to see if it's day or night.

allrighty! thanks a bunch...and i am going to figure out what that sensor does now. I thought it looked like a light sensing diode but i couldnt come up with what it could possibly be for.... so i thought i'd ask.
I bet it's something to do with the lighting inside the car...maybe it turms off the gauge lighting and such unless it's dark enough to need it... or possibly the curtosy lights in the glovebox, on the keyhole, and near the pedals.
That reminds me...my clock doesn't work and my keyhole light only sometimes work... but my clock workedwhen i got the car.....
#3 outside air temp sensor for the climate control. No other purpose.
#4 The sunlight sensor on the dash is there to compensate the AC for sunlight entering the car. In auto mode, the sun hiding behind a cloud will slow the fans, and coming back out kicks the AC up a notch. No other function. If yours is missing the tinted cover, it will think it is sunny in all daylight conditions, and you may not notice a difference.
