Will a 2jz bolt up to a R-154 tranny or do i have to get the tranny out of an MKIV.

They will not bolt up. You will need a MkIV Tranny of some sort. And a used Getrag V160 goes for something like $2500.

I believe it might be possible if you use a 1JZ R154 bellhousing. The bolt patterns should be the same.

I'd heard that, but never heard it confirmed.

Guess the fun then would be tracking down a 1jz R154 bellhousing.

They pop up on e-bay all the time.

You can also order JDM Toyota factory parts here;

http://www.trademotion.com/memberser...&siteid=213747

You would also need the 1JZ fly wheel, a MK III turbo(7MGTE) clutch, throw out fork, slave cyl, and starter.

Well, I know you can't just bolt 'em right up. That doesn't quite work.

With the parts I listed it will bolt right up. No custom fab work needed. I'm running an R-154 with my 1JZ. I know the crank bolt patterns are the same, so the 1JZ flywheel will bolt to the 2JZ. The only questionable part is the bellhousing. Most of the bolt patterns between the 1JZ and 2JZ blocks are the same, so the bellhousing should bolt up as well.

I was specifically meaning that an OEM R154 is not going to just bolt up to the 2JZ. I personally know jack shit about the 1JZ and it's associated parts.

???

All my parts are OE Toyota. I bought a reman R-154 for a 7MGTE and ordered the corect bell housing from a JDM parts supplier. The bell housing and transmission are two different parts, however they are usually sold as a unit.

You're combining parts. Sure you may make it adapt, I was saying you cannot remove an R154 from a 7M-GTE, and go slap it on a 2JZ.

A friend of mine has one on his 2jz mk3.
