what are these wires PART II


so i was rewiring foglights. and when i removed the kick panel i found these two connectors hanging here. what are these connectors?

Not really. I've never noticed 'em. They may be part of the super monitor, or who knows what down there. I really don't know. It looks like they may have come off the back of a switch connector somewhere.

OK..It took a little while but i think i got it..Acoring to the TSRM wiring diagram it is a plug for the optional TripComputer control module..Which interfaces with the cruise control,a speed sensor,Fuel tank sending unit,ECU and the ignition..I dont know if all supras are already hard wired for this option or not ..If not then all you have to do is locate a unit and it should be a plug and play setup..the small plug also apears to go to the radio harness..For what i dont know..

That's the Super Monitor they're describing. They are pretty rare however all pre-89 cars were wired for them. After the change in 1989 only cars that were ordered with them, had wires for 'em.

I've never seen one in person, but when they go up for sale they're usually not cheap at all.

IIRC there's also a minor issue with their calendar function. It only goes up to like 2006. They are nifty units though.
