hydraulic lash adjusters

i am about to install new hydraulic lash adjusters in my 82 celica supra. does anyone know if toyota calls for them to be primed in any way? its not in alldata or any of the other manuals i have looked in. i know other manufactures ive done call for the new lash adjusters (or hydraulic lifters) to be soaked in new oil for X amount of time, and some say do not soak them. any feedback or info is appreciated.

I know nothing about them. Are they actually hydraulic? The ones in the Mk3 Supras are electronic.

yeah, they are hydraulic for sure. and they are causeing a pretty hellacious valve tap during cold start. this weekend i ran a bunch of ATF with my oil to try and see if maybe it was a dirty lifter problem, but to little avail. so, once more, if anyone knows anything about priming new ones, i would like to hear about it. or maybe how someone else did it.

???
Electronic lifters? The 7M doesn't have lash adjusters. Nor does it have rocker arms to be adjusted. It uses a direct actuation valve train with solid shims to keep valve lash correct.

I found the procedure in my Haynes manual. It says:

Quote:
Immerse them, one at a time, in a container of light oil. Insert a pin punch into the plunger hole to depress the check valve and slide the the plunger up-and-down several times while pushing down lightly on the check ball.
Basically use a punch to open up the little valve and work the adjuster to get it to suck in the oil.

Yeah, that's my lack of non-7M Knowledge. I assumed he was referencing the Headlights and was using some weird slang.
