brake bleeding

ok, i have speed bleeders and when bleeding my pass. rear caliper it was leaking a little. when i open the bleeder fluid drips out just a few drops at a time very slow. with the speed bleeder it shouldnt drip fluid without pumping the brake.

i talked to my friend whos a speed bleeder vender he said its not the bleeder thats bad. its got to be something causing preasure pushing the fluid out. anyone got a clue where to start with this? i bleed the breaks well and had clear fluid(the old was black). no leaks anywhere the brakes feel fine to me. but im worried if there is a blockage or if theres enough preassure to cause that caliper to stick.

i had no uneven/odd brake pad wear on my pads that i could notice. they were just as worn as the driver side pads.

There should be a check valve inside the bleeder. This valve could have something stuck in it, keeping it open just a little bit. Try openning the valve as if you are going to bleed the system. You will then see if the system has pressure. Or try rotating the tire by hand. If it rotates ok, the brake pressure can not be that high. Try flushing out some fluid and see if the valve starts sealing again. It could be a diffective valve.

thats what i thought at first, i guess i really should have taken the valve off the other tire(that is working fine) and checked but i didnt think of it. the bleeder vender i know though said he never herd of the valve not working like that though.

Great idea, try swapping valves out. My thinking was, how much brake pressure is required to bleed the brakes with the speed bleeder valve open. I don't know. I would assume if there was enough pressure inside the brake system to overcome the check valve in the bleeder, this might cause the brake to start to engage. Or the check valve could be defective or clogged.

It can be very difficult to know what to do when the salesman states he has not seen the problem before. Check it out and see what you find.

ya im going to swap the valves this weekend and see what happens. the wheel turns freely though so its not enough pressure to engage the brake at all.

hes a friend and not really a salesman lol, he offered no question to replace the valve right away at his cost if i thought it was the problem... just wanted to ask around if anyone could think of any other reasons that might cause the pressure in the lines.

thanks for the help though ill post after i try the other valve(i hope to get to it this weekend)
