7mgte oil pressure

im buying a MkIII, the oil pressure sinks low at idle. Ive heard the gauge can be inaccurate, but just in case its not i need some methods to get the pressure up.

Can i swap out the oil pump? something with a higher pressure?

Whats the best way to clean out all the tubing and what not????

The gauge is heavily damped, but you're right, the oil pressure is low in the 7M. High volume, low pressure system.

There are no real options for increasing pressure that have done anything appreciable IMO. There have been some experiments that have resulted in higher oil pressures, but most simply rebuild their engines using new stock pumps and have no issues.

The one area we could get some benefit is to change to the GE's oil filter adapter and use a remote filter and cooler system. You will get slightly higher peak pressures, a couple of litres more oil volume and more ideal oil cooling. The stock cooler is a pressure bypass system, and does not use temperature to determine when oil should be cooled. Of course, it also bleeds off high pressure oil, which scares those looking for more oil pressure.
