Question Find max. boost w/o detonation

How can you figure out your maximum boost presure w/o hitting detonation...is it even posible?

it all depends on what modifications you install? each car/setup is different, and you need to install the monitoring guages to find out where your setup is on the grand scheme of things.

you can scan the internet groups to see what people run, but most guys stay around 12:1 for air fuel ratio, 12.5:1 if you are conservative, 940mv on the o-2 sesor and 920mv conservativly, and under 1000f on the egt guage, 800f conservatively.

a stock supra can be boosted to about 10psi, and still be very reliable.

with exhaust and air filter, but without added fuel or anything else, staying below 12psi will keep you running for a good long time.

wanna go faster than that? spend the money now to build a better motor/system, or end up with a junk pile a few short months.


stock is 5.75-6.25psi, so a jump to 12psi is quite a rush.
