Heater hose from head to intake?

Just brought my 87 7M-GE from Springfield to Kansas City and now have coolant "flowing" from under the intake, now the interesting thing is that there is apparently a hose that runs from the head to the intake andthe across the top to the passenger side of engine. Just did a HG 9mnths ago and have had no problems at all till she ran 114miles then WHAM! temp gauge to the read and steam everywhere. Any ideas would be great, going to pull the old off and fit in a new one, after it cools.......by the way how awsome is it they cool off so quick!! THanks for any help.

A coolant hose could be leaking? The intake manifold is probably heated by coolant water. Check all your hoses and clamps.

On Turbo models (I assume the N/A's are the same) there is a coolant line that connects TO the throttle body and one that connects from it and goes towards the firewall. This is so that in cold climates, the throttle body doesn't stick shut.

would it be beneficial to re-route the coolant so the TB is not heated by warm coolant
allowing cooler intake temperatures? or would that be pointless?
(assuming it's never driven in the winter)

Depends on your climate. In New Mexico, where I live, it seldom gets cold enough to warrant the coolant flowing through there, but in someplaces it's possibly critical.

However, will you see a gain? Yes and no. Some claim it heat soaks slower, some say it does nothing. I've bypassed the throttle body coolant passages myself.

I saw no differences minus one less confusing hose.
