Need suggestions please...

First let me start by saying hi to everyone i am new to these forums, I drive a 1995 nissan 240 with sr20det upgraded turbo (gt2871r), forged bottom end and other goodies...

Well im thinking about buying a 1993 supra in a week. The reason why im THINKING about it instead of jumping around and being happy to finally getting a supra is that its non turbo auto... The non turbo part doesnt bother me so much i can always save for boost in the future, lower compression and all that fun stuff. The auto part is what has me thinking if i should or not... Im getting it for a pretty good price compared to how much mk4's are going for these days, 8k targa top, black leather really nice conditions with a/c. My question is around how much do i end up spending if i wanted to make it 5spd, 5 spd would be fine for me dont need a 6speed tranny im guessing that there extreamly expensive and way harder to find. Im new to supra's so any help will help, ive always worked on 240's and have dont an auto to manual conversion on them countless times and its acually very cheap with them and i can do it with my eyes close by now, but i dont know the cost nor where to find all the parts for the mk4.... Around how much does a 5 spd tranny go for? Where can i find all the parts like what other cars, if any have interchangeable parts 9 (i know the lexus sc300 is probally one). And can i get a list of parts needed and also you suggestions on this the supra, is it a good idea to get it or not? Any other information would also help... Thanks alot.

8K isn't a bad price.

To go with a 5 speed you need an R-154 trans, 1JZ to R-154 bellhousing(JDM part find on ebay), 1JZ flywheel(also JDM-ebay), MK III turbo clutch kit, MK III turbo clutch fork, MK III turbo slave cyl, MK IV clutch pedal/master cyl assy, clutch line, and a drive shaft. I am not sure how the spedo hook up works. I just know the parts that would bolt up. I would expect the parts are somwhere in the $2500 range.

the guy wants cash asap for it because he wants a g35 and its a clean title so i should jump on it right... another question around how much do TT motors sets with a 6spd tranny go for...? Like how much would i look to be spending if i were to decide to do the motor swap? thanks again

The Getrag V160 transmission usually runs a couple thousand, IIRC.
