1987 supra

just got a 1987 supra non turbo.. wanna do a swap.. can anyone tell which turbo motor goes rite in with no mods.. 1jz or 2jz? use to be a honda guy.. dont really no too much about toyotas.. thanks guys

The answer is the motor that is in it now. Any motor swap will involve changing motor monts, the wire harness, ECU, etc. There is no such thing as a "bolt in" swap. In the case of an 87 the entire front subframe has to be changed out to accomodate anything other than a 7M.

thanks for the info.. wat does a full swap cost? n also can i use the 5 speed trans from my n/a motor on the 1jz?

Not without tryin' to adapt it somehow. Even then, You shouldn't. W58's are worthless above 300tq.

A full swap is usually, 3,000-5,000, depending on where you get your front cut (you can't just buy the motor, you need the front half of those donor cars) and how much labor/extra parts it takes to get it all in.

I use a R-154. The 1JZ came equipped with it, so there is a correct bell housing available. No adapters needed. The 1JZ clutch is the same clutch used with the 7MGTE making them easy to find.

ya thanks.. i think im gonna go with the 7mgte route.. the swap sound a hell of a lot easier then the 1jz.. still loooking for a motor.. ill keep u guys updated.. thanks again..
