'80's Info

I need a commuter car, the 130 mi/day trip in the '94 FZJ80 LandCruiser is killing my wallet.
Thought about a MR2 but I thinks its to small as I commute early in the morning through the canyon from Grand Gunction to Rifle CO in oil field country where 90% of the vehicles are full sized PU that are late to work.

I have always liked the Supra from the '80s.
Does the Supra make a good commuter car?
If so, what should I look for when buying a Supra? Is there a FAQ site for the Supra?

It would be a great luxo cruiser, but maintenance is fairly high, and the fuel will run you near to what the FJZ will. It would also be a lot of fun if those canyon runs are fairly twisty too. The upside if you're concerned about damage is that the supra will stand up better than most pickups will (as many collision pics out there will attest). 3500+ lbs of solid steel, but the downside is the fuel consumption.

17city, 22hwy for the turbos was the official rating when they were new...I've never heard of people getting that however, and the turbo is a premium recommended car...it will run on lower grades, but won't be as happy.

I was wondering about what gas I should be putting in my 86.5 NA. I have been running Premium 91, but I was wondering if it is really needed for an NA?

Would the Silver 89 gasoline run just as well?

Just curious.

In my opinion the MR2 would almost be better because of the better gas milege. Yeah paying for 93 (or rather 91 out here ) can still dint the wallet but i'm sure not quite as bad as that FJ.

Either way you're cruisin happy
