2jz swap

Does anyone know what the smog regulations are in California for swaping motors? I want to swap my 7mge for 2jz.

its legal. In Cali you can swap in any newer engine from that vehicle. I wanted to swap my Tercel's motor for a newer Tercel engine (going from SOHC to DOHC) and the Smog ref said that its completely legal. Just no backwards swapping.

Putting a 2jz in cali is totally 100% legal. Just costs a buttload. I plan on doing it in a few years...
