Starting Problem

Have A 87 Mk3 Turbo,standard.when Cold Starts Everytime.stop Anywhere Run N Run Out Motor Wont Turn Over.everything Works Power Wise.when Turning The Key Hear A Clicking Sound Pass Side Dash.let Set 30min To 1hr Starts Right Up.can Pull Start.my Daughter Drives It So Im Never Close To Check It,she Just Lets It Cool An Start Up An Go.any Ideas?thanks

You might need a new starter. Starting when cold, not starting when hot, and starting again after cooling down is a sign of a heatsoaked starter with worn contact points. You can replace the contact points or buy a whole new starter.

Another one I can think of is the cam angle sensor.

When it doesn't run, what happens? Does the engine still turn over trying to start or does nothing happen at all?

engine doesnt turn over.its like turning key without pushing n the clutch.just hear click in dash on passager side.this 1 is tough because im never there with tools to check everything when it acts up.i replaced starter a year ago,but i might take off and have it tested.thanks 4 ur help.
