USA Is this a good deal?

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me.

I'm seriously considering a Supra that's currently on Ebay, a blue 1988 automatic selling out of Kentucky (It's marked Radcliff) - it's due to finish tomorrow. Here it is - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5639241&rd=1,1

An enormous amount of time and money seems to have been spent on it, and though it needs a bit of work yet to complete the car I thought it might be a good deal.

As I'm certainly no expert on the Supra I's certainly appreciate some advice on the matter.

Thanks in advance

ok pissed off...had a long post typed and Internet Exploder crapped out.

cliffs: ebay is a big risk as you can't see the work up close to veryify anything they say. Could easily be a scam. I'm a skeptic though, and assume the worst, you may not. The Fuel cell without a passenger compartment firewall will keep you from racing this car either...that part is a deathtrap waiting to happen!

fuel cell

Hi again,
Yes, that is a problem. I was actually looking to try and keep most of the mods on the engine but try and revert the vehicle back to a conventional street car internally, so the fuel cell would certainly have to go.

Thanks

PS - I have my own areas of expertise (cars ain't one of them!) and post on a number of other forums. I know exactly how it feels to lose a whole pile of stuff you've just typed up, so I usually write long posts in Word first, then paste them across. If your computer crashes for some reason word saves the text.

Did you end up bidding on it? It looked like a lot of modifications was done to the car. If something went wrong, it would've been really hard to trace it down and find the source if someone else did the install; and you really can't depend on someone else's quality of work. The car looked like a headache. I would look for something closer to stock or not as heavily modified.

it's gone

Hi again,
No, it finished early, meaning someone must have made him an offer. Guess it's probably not so bad, as I wasn't sure if I could deal with it. I'm not a real tech-head where cars are concerned, and I probably would have had a really steep learning curve trying to figure that car out.

Now I just have to sit back and determine which way I really want to go with Toyota - Supra, MR2, or maybe even a later model Celica. Choices, choices, choices! And this all started because I was trying to find a car to replace my aging little fun car, a Fiat X 1/9! Mark I of the MR2 had some appeal because of it's design similarities to the X 1/9, but I do find the late 80's Supra's appealing as well. I'm working to a fairly tight budget on this, max. of around 6K, so I'm just casting an eye around trying to figure which way to go.

Thanks for the input to date.

if small and nimble is what you want, the supra family is not it! Huge weight penalty, but they are a very comfortable and potent GT car.

X 1/9...I haven't seen one of those running in years...
