Uhh are 7MGTE Iron Cast Blocks?

Sorry I search this and many forums but found no answers. I know the 2JZ are iron cast blocks but are the 7MGTE and 1JZ Iron cast blocks too? I talked to some supra owner awhile ago around my area but forgot to ask him that. He just told me Head gasket sucks, stock exhaust sucks, engine will run 500whp safely on stock internal?

Yes, cast iron. All M series and JZ engines were.

Stock exhaust is what it is...a stocker. As an upside, they were as I remember one of the first using low grade stainless pipe. My 20 year old one is still intact in my garage, only being removed a couple of years ago when my current project build started. They will let you run some more power than stock, but are a serious restriction beyond roughly 10psi of boost. The downpipe is a bigger restriction than the rest of the system, but if you're replacing that, you might just do it all.

Stock gasket does not suck. The factory torque setting sucks. Torque a new one on a machined head and block to 75 ft/lbs as it should have been from the factory and they are good to run 10-12 psi of boost all day long. Beyond that, a metal gasket is in order.

Stock, GOOD CONDITION 7M engines with PROPER tuning can easily run 500hp setups all day. Again, the head gasket must be metal when shooting for this, but the internals are not a concern. I use caps for a reason...if you take a ratty old engine with unknown internal condition and crank on it, no amount of tuning is going to guarantee that the thing will hold together. Given the age of the engines, I'd recommend a stock rebuild or at least a teardown and inspection/measurement of all the parts before trying it.
