86.5 Oil Pressure Guage

i got my 86.5 supra recently, and ive decided to swap the engine as it has a blown wrist pin on a cylander, but im wondering if anyone could tell me, what should the oil pressure guage should be reading "normally", also could somone tell me what is the octane level fuel i should be putting in, somehow i doubt 86 octane would cut it for this car,

Thanks for any info

the fuel pressure on the turbo is allowed to drop semi low at idle.. but while driving it should be between about 35 and 80 PSI as so says my manual for my 1987 supra.. this is the 7mgte engine also...

if you have the turbo i would put 89 octane in it... you dont want it to detonate and all a fuel octane rating is, is its resistance to detonation. the higher the number the higher its resistance

The 86.5 was not a factory turbo, so I'll assume yours isn't.

Oil pressure is about as stated. Don't be too surprised when it bottoms out at idle.

Fuel: good old regular will do. I would run higher octane myself in a turbo car as the computer will pull timing out and you don't get all the horses, and I would certainly do it on a modified car, but it will make it from one place to another on the cheaper stuff. A good economy tip: if you're making a long distance highway drive and staying out of the boost, step down the octane of fuel you will burn on the way, then octane up when you get there. We frequently drive to Kentucky and other meets, normally a 2 fill up drive, and since we're just cruising, I would go this route to save a little cash.

Check the connection at the pressure sender as well. It's possible that you're getting a false reading. It's also possible that the sender is faulty or clogged.

and keep in mind that the 7m uses a high volume, low pressure oil system. many perfectly running 7m's will bottom out the OP gauge (read: zero) at idle.
