Cranks

Does anyone on here have a good 88 7mgte crank and rods for sale?

Or knows anyone or a place that sells one?

i would think carefully when deciding which crank to use. early (pre '89) 7M's use a 6M crank, and mid '89+ 7M's use a 7M crank.

the 7m is a much smoother crank, as it has more counterbalances.

is that what they use stock? I don't know much about the internals of the motor.

Is the 6m crank best to use for the 7MGTE?

All I really need is a crank to make my car driveable. I need it desperatly

both the 6M and 7M crank came in the 7mgte. if your car is an '88, then it came with the 6M crank.

if you're just wanting to make your car drivable, either will work, but the 7M crank will give a smoother feeling motor than the 6M.

Well, you'll need to check clearances and possibly replace bearings... but yes, either one will fit and run fine.

On a side note the 89 and later MKIIIs had a lower redline (6250, reduced from 6500 with the 6M crank) due to the additional weight and rotating mass of the 7M crank.

Yesh, You guys are on like every supra forum!!

I have an 88 turbo supra if I didn't mention that before..

Does it matter if the crank is from an NA or Turbo car motor?

Hehe... yes, Shaeff does get around, doesn't he?

The 7M-GE and the 7M-GTE use the same crank... no worries there.

exactly. no need for envy! once your car starts falling apart, you'll know more, too! haha

(honestly though, i used: i-supra.com, supramania.com, supraforums.com, and 4cefed.com as read-only for almost two full years before i made a single post. all the info is out there, you just have to really search to find some of it!

i'm just trying to give back all the info that i've taken!

Oh yeah. If not for the fact that I can't get a break from the car I'd have been stuck by the roadside tonight.

The car started bucking whenever I was at a low throttle position... turns out the connector for my TPS cracked in several places and worked it's way loose. Heh, two years ago I would have absolutely freaked.
