I have this problem for a while now and Im getting sick and tired out of it. When Im driving my 88 NA I noticed that I have a vibration on my brake pedals everytime Im getting off the ramp or just anytime that im driving fast and Im trying to slow down. I wonder what could it be. I have a new rotors and brake pads on the front and I already blead my brakes but I still have it. But when Im just driving in 60km/h and I slow down I dont even feel it. We already check the balljoint and everything that can make this problem but theirs no sign on it. So could anyone let me know what could it be.
I already double check my rotor but my rotor is fine. My mechanic told me that maybe the calipers coz I havent change my calipers ever since I bought the car. I have the car for almost one year now and god knows how long did the old owner change his caliper or for me it looks like he havent change his calipers yet. Thanks for your response guys..
Calipers can be rebuilt but it is very rare that one needs to "change the caliper".. Calipers are not "wear items" The only time one would need to change a caliper would be if it is physically damaged or seized. I would guess your Mechanic is either taking a wild guess or being dishonest..
One cannot visually inspect a rotor and tell if it is warped or not. You have to realize that when you step on the brake pedal the pad only moves about 1/32". So even a warpage of 1/64" can be felt through the pedal, but it is unlikely anyone can tell by looking at it.
The fact that you indicate that you only experience the vibration slowing down from speeds above 60km/h indicated that it is very likely a warped rotor..
The only other thing you might want to check is the balance of your wheels..

Well, I had my driver-side front caliper go out on me. I know it's not common that it happens, however I really felt the pressure loss on the brakes and the vibration was awful. I was having a similar problem where the vibration was intermittent, so you may not want to rule that out completely.

It's this line that makes me wonder about the validity of this statement.. It sounds like his mechanic said that after a certain amount of time the calipers should be changed and this is a normal procedure.
In all my years of playing around with cars I know of calipers failing and needing a rebuild (or replacement with a rebuilt unit) but I've never heard of suggesting to change calipers like one changes oil..

Maybe he is taking a wild guess. I know that Im not good enough yet to know about this kind of stuff but using my common sense ur right grantpc. I will take my rotors out and really look at it carefully. Just like what I said the vibration only happens when Im getting off the ramp or if Im pressing on the brake on a high speed to slow down. I have this problem eversince I got my car. I went to have an alignment but I still have the vibration. Even my passenger sometimes can feel it. So I will take a deep look at it. Thanks guys for the response.
sorry dude, i was thinking we'd go for that spin at woodbine, but then i got their and forgot again.

No problem Ben, anyways yup Im going to the toyota nation meet this wed. at KK. Sorry if I didnt go inside Timmies and say goodbye to all of you got a call and party to catch. So see u this wed. then.
I went to my mechanic shop, and they told me that they are not bz. So they let me used there tools and hoist again for free of charge and found out about my brake vibration. It was my caliper so there was this pin or bolt that u supposed to put lubricant on it. When I check it theres no lubricant and its not even playing at all. I put the lubricant and everthings fine now. Thanks for the replys and opinions.
