There is no defined formula for washers. Put 4 on and see where you are. If you want more, or hit fuel cut, add or remove as required. Have you upgraded the exhaust? If not, don't expect it to be able to hold more than 10 or so to redline due to restriction at higher RPM, and if you do hit more than 10 by 4k or so, don't be shocked to see it fall back a couple of lbs as you cross beyond 5k or so.

The bolt diameters are roughly 6mm as I remember.

well i did it...i shimed it.i put 3 1.4mm washers on each screw..yes i know i was gonna or supposed to use 2mm washers but the only thing i could get for free was 1.4 cause i had no money..since i put about 4.2mm of stuff i should have gained about 1.5 to 2 pounds of boost which is about what i got. so turned out pretty good.. gonna TRY to derestrict the exhaust nexy week so should be all good..lol.. thought id share my experience.

It's held by 2 bolts. Put them between the wastegate and the turbo to pull it away...pretensioning the spring

take off your intake if you have a MKIII..your entire intake and you will see a golden colored thing..kinda like the bottom of a soda can and its held on by 2 12mm bolts.. take em out and put washers between the turbo and the gold bracket..theres a pic floating around somewhere
