no oily residue in water reservior.
steam coming out of res. bottle
very hard rad pipes, due to maximum pressure.
low coolant light coming on in cabin when car is started up.
smell of coolant from exhaust pipe
these are some of the more common signs of a blown head gasket, allthough it is not 100%, even if you have all of these signs.
BHG's are very common, and you should expect to pay up to 2000 for a simple HG replacement on any used supra, unles the owner can tell you categorically that he just fixed it, and fixed it right.
as for rust, it will start under the read wheel fenders.
everything else on the supra is rock-solid, so just run of the mill usuall car check stuff applies. make sure everything works. go for a test drive.
post your location, and try to get another supra owner to have a look with you sometime.
i know of a nice mk2 for sale in hamilton for 1500cdn. partially restored, but owner has 2 many supras, and this one has to go before winter gets here.
