USA hks downpipe...

does the hks downpipe that elminiates the pre-cat like the one on suprastore.com have any difference in emissions testing for the MK3 or do you guys have any recommendations?

If they eliminate the Cat, you won't pass. Pretty consistant on that.

but doesn't the mk3 have 2 cats a pre-cat and the main cat? because i've read somewhere that the pre-cat was mainly for cold starts...is it correct?

Not that I know of. I haven't ever had a 'stock' exhaust though.

depends on whether you have a competent inspector on the visual and what their reference is. Most just look for the main, but those with computer links to the ministry of transport/dot will often have a checklist that will tell them to look for 2 cats... but they get lazy too. No matter how you cut it, you take a chance.
