Do I need to reinstall EGR?

Hi everyone

I just bought a 1987 NA Supra with a thrown rod and I also purchased a JDM engine to install. I have swapped everything over necessary for me to install in the Supra (sensors, injectors, wiring harness, etc) but I am not sure whether it is necessary to reinstall the EGR system. The JDM block came with a block off plate on the rear of the engine.
This is not a California car so it has no EGR temperature sensor. Also, I do not have to pass any emissions testing where I live, so that will not be an issue. I have been told that deleting the EGR will cause the AF ratio to go rich, causing an oxygen sensor code to be thrown. I have also read that nothing at all will happen. The only connection this system has to the ECU is the VSV on the left rear of the engine, from which I read, turns the valve off and on according to manifold pressure. What, if anything, will happen if I neglect to reinstall the EGR system?
