MKIII short shifter question?

i recently purchased a short throw shifter for my 87 toyota supra 7mgte. i just tryed installing it and realized its well lets just say not very fun. wondering if anyone has any info or a guide for installing this. i got down to the 4 bolts that you have to remove that in on top of the tailshaft but i couldn't get the two towards the rear of the car off. if anyone has any input that would be great. thanks

boost on!!

The shifter should be real easy to install.

- Unscrew shift knob
- remove screws from dash piece (2x - in the ash tray bezel (remove the tray and you'll see 'em), 1 in the side near the ebrake, 1 (or two) on the left edge near the steering wheel.)
- Pull trim up (should pop out), then back, unplugging the random wires that are connected to the upper switches.
- Put stick into Neutral position
- look at shifter, move the rubber cover out of the way and you'll expose 4 - 10mm bolts. I think they are a phillips head, but use a driver and avoid stripping issues. Back them out.
- Pull up. Should come right out.

I don't think I've forgotten anything. Where are you getting hung up?

alright well for one i cant get the damn shift knob that the previous owner put on...so i gotta work with that at the moment. but i got past the body panel if you will with the 4 10mm bolts. i got down to where the knob mounts to the plate which is bolted on the tailshaft. i got the front two 12mm bolts out but cant make room with anything to get the rear two bolts out. that is where i am stuck. any suggestions?

You aren't unbolting the plate (really called the tranny hat) from the tailshaft right? The shifter bolts in by itself.
